About Electrolysis
Electrolysis is the practice of using electrical current to permanently remove hair. Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA as permanent hair removal. Electrolysis permanently destroys the growth cells of the hair follicle, preventing treated hair follicles from ever producing another hair. Electrolysis involves a series of treatments over a period of time to destroy all the hair follicles that are producing unwanted hairs. At any given time, there is only a certain percentage of follicles producing hair. We treat the follicles that are in actively producing hairs. Then we plan appointments to treat other follicles as they come out of their dormant stage and start producing hairs. The number of treatments a person needs will depend on how many hair follicles are producing unwanted hair. Due to the dormant stage of a hair follicle lasting anywhere from 3-12 months, treatments are expected to last a minimum of 12 months.
